There are only 23 Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionists in the state of Illinois, and Bethel's own Ranzie Callahan is one of them.

The International Dyslexia Association and the Center for Effective Reading Instruction offer this certification after candidates complete a 9-12 month-long practicum that requires two hours of teaching each week, weekly video recordings, and lesson plans/observations sent to an expert to review, critique, and revise. In addition to book studies, the final step is to pass the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction.
