At tonight's board meeting, Mr. Eric Gockel was presented a plaque recognizing his years of service to Bethel Grade School District #82. Mr. Gockel came to the board right before COVID and helped with the early phases and decision making for our construction project. We are grateful for his service during this unique span of time. Thank you Mr. Gockel.

📢 Reminder! The PTO will be collecting donations for our Rummage Sale this Friday, Oct. 24 from 12–6 PM!
Clean out those closets and bring your gently used items to the school. Every donation helps make our sale a success! Thank you for supporting our PTO!

A very big thank you to the City of Mt. Vernon for installing flashing stop signs on Bethel Rd!

TOMORROW, October 22, is Picture day! Individual Photos and Class Groups will be taken for the yearbook. Softball and Cross Country will be taken. REMEMBER YOUR UNIFORMS!!
This week is Bus Safety Week! Please be aware of buses on the roadways and encourage your kids to ride safely on the bus. Last year, we reported four drivers to the Sheriff's Department for running bus stop signs . Let's make it zero this year.

Another week of good progress for Shores Builders Inc. on the new addition. Most of the footings have been poured ahead of the rain expected for tomorrow. A big shoutout to Shores for the commitment they are showing to this project.
In this phase of the project, we are adding six new classrooms, a set of bathrooms, a set of staff bathrooms, and a custodial room to replace the four older classrooms on the north side of the building.

Hi Bethel families! Tomorrow night is our first girls’ basketball game 🎉 We still need someone to help in concessions from 6:30–8:00 p.m. — no experience needed! Sign up here: https://evite.me/rxt6tAtuyC
Concession shifts are a great way to raise money for your class, club, or organization!

Today's half-day in-service for the staff was presented by Joe McQueen, the author of Calming Young Minds: Understanding Mental Health, De-Escalation, Trauma and Restorative Practices in Teens. He brought us simple approaches to comforting kids who are feeling big emotions.

We added a little safety work to our half-day today. The kids did an excellent job practicing their bus evacuation procedures. A big thank you to my 8th-grade leaders for helping others out of the bus.

Huge thank you to Ameren for coming to share with 5th grade about electricity, conservation, and safety today! The presentation was fun, and we learned a lot!
